"A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed."
It is amazing how such a simple amendment can become so convoluted, difficult, and complex once it hits the courtrooms, congress, and the government propaganda machine.  Simply put, US citizens (...the people) have the right to own and carry weapons (...keep and bear Arms).  In my opinion, the first part of this amendment is what our government takes advantage of in its mis-interpretations and over-regulations of this right.  I believe that it should be the right of any citizen to keep and carry any weapon, carry it however he/she wishes, and carry it wherever he/she wishes.  I also believe that this is what the 2nd amendment means.  The meaning of "a well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state" clearly means that there should simply be an organizational structure for citizens to form up into a fighting formation in the case of attack....it does NOT mean that individual gun ownership should be tracked and monitored by the government!

The government's monitoring of gun ownership, regulation of this ownership, and denial of ownership in many cases completely goes against the meaning of the 2nd amendment and in my mind makes these actions unconstitutional.  If you have read other essays on this site such as the ones surmising that socialism is inevitable or the 10 points of the Communist Manifesto as related to Americe, you can see that I feel that the government eventually aspires to obtain total control of the population of the US.  Whether this aspiration is a stated goal or not, this is simply the direction almost all modern civilizations have gone dispite their best efforts to have a government "by the people".  Our founders wrote the 2nd amendment to insure that the government was always by the people, and for the people...in other words, the ones with the guns are in power.  If the citizens are armed to the teeth, they will never be repressed.  I am by NO means advocating that we go out and form militaristic groups to fight the government as much of the government propaganda towards gun owners says...rather, I am saying that to RETAIN the liberties that our constitution promises us, we must be vigilant and not allow the government to nulify the 2nd amendment by regulating it to the point in which it is irrelevant.

It is amazing to me how many people these days feel that you are a right wing wacko or some kind of criminal if you own guns and weapons.  A person receives accusations of being crazy or paranoid if they own a weapon for self protection.  This attitude is the result of years of propaganda in forms that are called such things as "gun control" and "safety locks" and ideas that guns kill people...rather than the person pulling the trigger.  Do these people honestly think that criminals (i.e. the PEOPLE that use the guns that kill people) are going to follow gun control laws?  This logic is simply laughable...do you think criminals are going to rob a house with trigger locks on their weapons so that they don't accidently shoot somebody?  Apparently, we are to believe that we are just supposed to trust the government to protect us.

The dirty little secret is that the government doesn't care about our concerns about protecting ourselves from criminals......the government doesn't want the people to protect themselves from the government!  Obviously, the propagana would NEVER say this...and every anti-gun person would deny this since they have total trust in the government.  I'm not saying that the government is going to come knocking on your door any day now, but what I am saying is that gradually, more and more people will be given over to the idea that they do not need to use their 2nd amendment right.  Eventually, and I'm talking maybe 20 years from now, another amendment will pass saying something such as "...people will live under the protection of the government police force and have no need and thus no continued right to keep and bear arms...thus providing for the 'common defense' by 'making the world a safer place' by keeping guns out of the hands of criminals"....other meaningless flowery propaganda such as this would be included to obtain support and acceptance for this of course.

Remember, when the people are defenseless, the government is in total control.  It is no longer a government by the people...or for the people at that point.  If you need recent examples of such governments, think about the former Soviet Union...the former Nazi Germany...the former Iraqi Baath Party government...communist Cuba...communist North Korea...communist China (the peoples republic...ya right).

Keeping the power with the people of this country is not only fundamental to freedom, but is the principal pillar on the foundation of this countries formation.  We must never forget this, and must actively pursue the retention of this basic right of all american citizens in order to KEEP this fundamental right.
